Trees for All
This one is a must for any school! The Woodland Trust is giving away free trees
under it's Trees For All campaign.
Tree For All is the most ambitious children's tree-planting project ever launched
in the UK, with plans to help plant 12 million trees over the next five years.
With your support, Tree For All could give one million children the chance to
make a positive difference.
Choose from either the Copse or Hedgerow Pack; The Copse Pack contains 30 native
trees which are suitable for planting as a small wooded area or 'copse'. The
species are rowan, silver birch and wild cherry. You will receive 10 of each.
The hedgerow pack containing 30 plants (6 of each) of hawthorn, field maple,
holly, dog rose & dogwood. The trees can be planted as a traditional hedgerow
and provide an excellent habitat for wildlife.
Become a Nature Detective
The Woodland Trust are also inviting young people to help scientists monitor
the impact of climatic changes on birds, insects, flowers, amphibians or fungi
by noting the dates of their seasonal changes.
Everyone is aware that climate change is affecting everything from tiny insects
to towering trees. Now you and your pupils can learn about nature and investigate
how the seasons are changing by becoming a nature detective.
Once you have registered at the Woodland Trust's website you can download their
free online resources as well as log your spring and autumn observations. The
Trust will even send you their next seasonal pack in the post.
