Folens began in 1986 with the appointment of Malcolm Watson as Managing Director. Staff based in Dunstable develop, sell and market over 1,000 product titles throughout the UK and overseas. Every function, with the exception of printing, is done in-house.

Rapid growth and innovation has made Folens the foremost publisher of teachers ideas and professional resources, as well as a significant publisher of primary school curriculum materials and a growing supplier of secondary school resources.

Recent publications of materials for GCSE have quickly become best-sellers with teachers and served to firmly establish Folens in the Secondary sector. The company have also developed and are publishing the innovative Accessing series ~ a new concept in teaching all abilities at the same time ~ for primary and secondary.

Folens also publishes the popular, award-winning A World of Display teacher books (under the Belair imprint), which are full of essential, cross-curricular art and design ideas for primary teachers and how to effectively display them. Folens Early Years ideas and activity books, for teachers of 3 to 5-year-olds, are also published under the Belair imprint.
